Hybrid Puffer

While the winter weather in cities now resembles the kind of stuff you only used to get on the sides of mountains, it doesn’t mean your clothing has to. So the Hybrid Puffer is built for the times you want to stay incredibly warm… but without looking like you just came down from the summit of Everest with an ice axe, full beard and semi-insane grin.  

While the Hybrid Puffer uses all the technology and design detailing you’d want on the side of a mountain, it’s all hidden and built for anonymity. The baffles are hidden. The down insulation is hidden. The storm proof construction is hidden. And the elasticated inner cuffs, pockets, and internal wind collar are hidden too. It’s all on the inside. It’s even made from waterproof and windproof Merino so it blends in with your other city clothes.

While Merino is an astonishingly high performance material in its own right, we reinforce it and enhance it using something called Optim™ spinning technology. When the wool is woven into fabric, a small amount of nylon and polyester is added to increase its strength and durability, before it goes through a ‘wet-finishing process’ that makes the fibres contract and the whole weave structure tighten. The result is a super-dense and tightly woven fabric that’s 5x more wind resistant than normal Merino.

Down insulation is only effective if it stays evenly distributed, which is where our narrow and internal baffling comes in. Tightly-packed engineered channels hold the down in place on the inside of the jacket and stop it from shifting or collapsing. It’s a low-weight, high-efficiency insulation system that works in sub-zero conditions.

Every detail has been designed to keep the wind out. You’ll find an internal wind collar offering extra protection from the cold. There are also invisible internal elastic cuffs. And the ends of each sleeve are cut on a forward angle to combat wind.  

The three-piece hood is engineered like a miniature storm system. It’s cut from the same reinforced Merino shell as the jacket, backed with the waterproof membrane, and shaped with a grown-on peak that keeps the profile clean but helps shield your face from horizontal rain and wind. 

The Hybrid Puffer is designed for extreme comfort in extreme weather. It’s easy to layer up underneath it. It comes with a two-way centre zip, two almost invisible side pockets and chest pockets with hidden waterproof zips, and an internal chest pocket. The jacket sleeves are built using a two-piece articulated construction that follows the natural shape of your arm.
