Double Graphene Lightweight Puffer

The world’s first temperature regulating puffer built with a graphene shell and graphene insulation.

£1,145

Model is 5ft 11 / 180cm with a 38 inch / 97cm chest, and wears size Medium.

  • Three layer outer shell with a graphene core
  • Insulation infused with graphene
  • Water repellent, breathable and thermoregulating

Graphene is the lightest, strongest, most conductive material ever discovered. Invisible to the human eye and only a single atom thick, if you’re looking to reverse engineer superhero gear then this is your material.

The Double Graphene Lightweight Puffer is the world’s first puffer jacket engineered with a graphene shell and graphene insulation. Lightweight, water repellent, windproof and breathable, it’s an astonishingly versatile puffer that can store and redistribute heat, and reduce humidity next to your body. And because graphene conducts heat better than any material on Earth, it helps regulate your temperature wherever you are and whatever you’re doing.

The existence of graphene as a supermaterial was first theorised in the 1940s, but it wasn’t until 2004 that two maverick scientists at the University of Manchester were able to isolate and test it. In 2010 their work won them the Nobel Prize. And thanks to their pioneering work we’ve been creating our own world firsts with graphene since 2018.

Turning algae into dye took 5 years of R&D

To create a black algae dye, each individual particle in the pigment needs to be microscopically small, otherwise the t shirt’s fibres won’t absorb them. So Living Ink have spent 5 years in R&D working on how to reduce the size of the black algae particles to an average of 1 micron. This breakthrough creates a sustainable alternative to dyeing clothing using traditional carbon-black based dyes, and with a clear pathway for scaling up.

Our intensive R&D process didn't stop with the dye

We carried out 6 months of lab tests to successfully dye our t shirt, trying different fabrics, dyeing temperatures, and pigment concentrations, before finding the perfect combination.
