As we continue to look for new, low impact ways to dye clothing, we’ve turned to the colouring tools of early man – minerals, rocks, and soils. Minerals don’t just tell the story of life on Earth, they also tell the story of colour. When our solar system settled into its current shape around 4.5 billion years ago, Earth was created by a series of galactic collisions. Tectonic plates began to form. And geological life and biological life fused together to create vast mineral deposits in the Earth’s upper crust. So when prehistoric man first picked up a prehistoric paintbrush, they turned to the ground around them. Today, instead of using those minerals to paint cave walls, we’re using them to dye clothing. Our Mineral Sweatshirt is garment dyed in a giant bath of ochre. There are only 2 by-products of this process – sediment, and water. Both of which can go straight back into nature.
Equator Pants
Made from a rare silk-like cotton grown in the Nile Delta.
Technical Details
Our Equator Pants have been worn everywhere from Death Valley California and the Australian Outback, to the deserts of Oman.
The pants are engineered with 332 laser-cut vents to keep you cool in the hottest places on the planet.
The Equator Pants are built from a rare, silk-like cotton that’s only found in the Nile Delta and only grows when the rain, soil and wind conditions are perfect.
Fast drying from rain and humidity
Rainstorms and humidity are going to soak you one way or another at the equator, so the key is about drying really fast, rather than trying to avoid getting wet. The material is lightweight and elastic so it dries quickly, making the pants as at home in a rainforest as they are in a city. And the extra airflow from the ventilation will help your skin dry faster at the same time as the pants.
Life at the equator offers us a glimpse of our future – a world of non-stop sun, heat, humidity and rainstorms.
An angled button cover and 5 belt loops
The fly fastens securely with a zipper and two bioresin buttons, one on the outside of the waistband and one on the inside. The outer button has an angled button cover, and the waistband comes with five 60mm belt loops to work with almost any belt.
Size + Fit
The Equator Pants are designed with a regular fit. If you’re between two waist sizes, we recommend going for the bigger size.
