Home to some of the hottest and most humid places on the planet, the equator carves through dense tropical jungles, warm seas, and crowded cities. Instead of seasons or temperature changes you’re more likely to be hit by a wall of heat, sun, rain and humidity. But as global temperatures rise and climate zones shift, designing clothing for the equator is like designing for our future.

So the Equator Jacket is built to keep you comfortable in all 40,000km of one of the most extreme environments we currently inhabit and one that’s set to grow. The jacket starts with one of the lightest and softest materials on the planet – a rare, silk-like cotton that’s only found in the Nile Delta and only grows in the years when the rain, soil and wind conditions are perfect.

Lightweight and elastic, the Equator Jacket dries fast after downpours and humidity and is engineered with an advanced ventilation system built with 228 laser-cut vents in the pockets and another 12 vents across the back and chest. It’s blended with ultrafine nylon and elastane for softness, durability and stretch, and it’s designed to work with our Equator Pants as an ultra lightweight travel suit to keep you cool in the heat.

We start with the softest cotton from the Nile Delta

Life at the equator offers us a glimpse of our future – a world of non-stop sun, heat, humidity and rainstorms. So we’ve built the Equator Jacket to equip you for it. To build a jacket that can work in all 40,000km of the equator we start with a world-class base material – a rare cotton called Karnak Menoufi. One of the lightest, softest materials on the planet, Karnak Menoufi is a silk-like cotton that’s only found in the Nile Delta, and only grows in the years when the rain, soil and wind conditions are perfect. And it’s exactly the same material we use to build our Equator Shirt and Pants.

Our Equator gear has been worn everywhere from Death Valley California and the Australian Outback, to the deserts of Oman.

Lightweight and breathable

As global temperatures rise and climate zones shift, clothes have to respond. That’s why the Equator Jacket is built to handle extreme heat. The material is highly breathable, which means sweat can escape fast. It’s also super lightweight at 450 grams, which makes it easy to wear or pack on any adventure.

The jacket is engineered with 228 laser-cut vents to keep you cool in the hottest places on the planet.

4 upper back vents and 8 chest vents

We've added 4 vents across the back of the jacket to help keep you cool in the heat. They’re built with two layers of overlapping material and securely anchored down with reinforced bartacks. And you’ll find another 8 vents running vertically down the front of the jacket on either side of the front zipper.

2 side pockets with hidden vents

The two side pockets are built with angled lockable zippers that fasten in position. And you’ll find a set of hidden vents inside the pockets when you need to cool down. The laser-cut panels inside each pocket have 114 holes to create 228 mini air streams.

The Equator Jacket is built from a rare, silk-like cotton that’s only found in the Nile Delta and only grows when the rain, soil and wind conditions are perfect.

Concealed passport pocket and adjustable collar

The weather can change fast at the equator, so we’ve designed the jacket with a collar that can be worn up or down – a metal press stud lets you secure the collar in the upright position to keep sand or insects out. The cuffs are also fitted with adjustable metal press studs. And you’ll find a concealed passport pocket with a hidden zip on the inside of the jacket.

Life at the equator offers us a glimpse of our future – a world of non-stop sun, heat, humidity and rainstorms.

Engineered with two-way stretch

The last thing you want in extreme heat are clothes that restrict your movement. So the Equator Jacket isn’t just lightweight and breathable, it’s also engineered with two-way horizontal stretch. Whichever way you pull, turn or stretch, it will simply go with you.

Size + Fit

The Equator Jacket has a slim fit. If you prefer a looser fit, or are on the borderline between two sizes, we recommend going a size up.
