Lumberjeans
Made from raw Japanese selvedge denim combined with ultra-tough aramid fibres.
- 14 oz. raw selvedge Japanese denim
- Material woven with aramid fibres for extreme strength
- Tough enough to survive 75kmph falls
The first ever pair of jeans were made for a lumberjack. Built for life in the woods, they were designed to be exceptionally tough – the strongest pants anywhere in the world at the time. But over the last 150 years, jeans have changed to the point where the original lumberjacks wouldn’t even recognise them. Skintight pants with premade rips are about as far away from the origin of jeans as you can get.
So we’ve gone back to the first days of jeans to build them as they were meant to be built. We’ve worked with the world’s most fabled mills and the master craftsmen of denim, and combined that with the toughest modern day materials to create some of the strongest jeans ever made. The Blue edition is made with high-strength raw denim, spun on low-speed looms to create the tightest possible weave, then woven with aramid fibre which is stronger than steel, and reinforced with Cordura panels. They’re the jeans lumberjacks would have wanted.
Waterfallproof Jacket
Ultra-technical, waterproof, breathable, and built with Swiss material technology.
Technical Details
The outside of the Waterfallproof Jacket mimics one of nature’s most brilliant pieces of engineering, so water simply rolls off it.
Nanotechnology means water can’t stick to it
When a water droplet lands on a normal flat surface, it sticks easily and quickly begins to absorb. But when water hits the surface of the lotus leaf, it can only balance on the peaks of the tiny bumps, meaning any movement or a breeze will cause the liquid to simply roll away. The outside layer of the jacket replicates the leaf’s microscale bumps using Schoeller’s nanosphere® technology. The bumps are completely imperceptible to the naked eye, but allow the jacket to resist water, oil and dirt.
The jacket is designed to combat the megastorms of the future, where crazily intense rainfall and snowstorms become the norm.
How the membrane works in the cold
This c_change® membrane mimics natural structures like flowers and pinecones, opening and closing in response to changes in temperature, humidity and sweat. It’s designed to keep you at a consistent temperature by combining really high breathability with heat retention. While it can open up like a series of microscopic vents to let heat escape, in the cold it closes itself like a protective barrier to stop heat leaving. So as soon as the temperature drops, or you stop moving, the membrane contracts to insulate you and retain heat close to the body.
Waterproof detailing throughout
Every detail of the jacket is built for extreme waterproofness. All the seams are fully sealed, and we’ve engineered out seams at the shoulders to eliminate the chance of water finding its way in. You’ll find adjusters on the inside hem to tighten the jacket closed at the waist, an adjuster at the back of the hood, and hidden elasticated gaiters at the cuffs to create an airtight seal between you and the elements.
Water resistant zippers and storm flaps
The jacket also comes with two large side pockets with water resistant zippers covered by storm flaps. The two-way front zipper is waterproof and protected by an external storm flap. And on the inside there’s an internal storm flap to protect you from wind and rain.
