  • Super breathable
  • Water and dirt repellent with fluorocarbon-free nanotechnology
  • Crease resistant

The Ultralight Cap is part of a system of ultralight, highly technical all-weather clothing designed to take you across every climate, environment and terrain on the surface of Earth.

While the Ultralight Winter Cap is built for the cold, this cap is designed to keep you cool and dry when temperatures rise or you’re building up steam on two legs or two wheels. It weighs just 56 grams and is built from a material precision engineered by Schoeller, an advanced textiles lab.

A classic five-panel design, it repels rain and dirt, dries fast, breathes in extreme heat and stretches in every direction. The outside surface uses fluorocarbon-free nanotechnology that works like the waxy skin of a leaf. It’s the lightest, most technical cap we’ve ever made.

Part of our Ultralight range

Weighing just 56 grams, the cap is part of a system of ultralight, highly technical all-weather clothing designed to take you across every climate, environment and terrain on the surface of Earth. The Ultralight Cap is built from a high-performance material, precision engineered by Schoeller to keep you cool in extreme heat and humidity or when building up steam on two legs or two wheels. It also repels water, resists creases and is loaded with elastane for maximum comfort.
Built from an ultralight, super breathable performance material that repels water and resists creasing.

An elastic core, a tough surround and a soft finish

The material we use in the cap is 93% recycled polyamide and 7% elastane. But this isn’t just polyamide with a bit of stretch thrown in. It’s a core-spun construction, which means there’s an elastane filament running through the centre of every yarn, wrapped in a sheath of high-tenacity recycled polyamide. The elastane core gives the material its stretch and snap-backability. The sheath gives it durability, abrasion resistance with a surface that feels like a natural material rather than a slippery synthetic.

A water-repellent finish that works like a waxy leaf

The cap is finished with Schoeller’s ecorepel®BIO, a plant-based durable water repellent that works like the waxy skin of a leaf. It wraps every fibre in a microscopic plant-derived barrier that causes rain to bead up and roll straight off. No PFCs, no Teflon chemistry, just renewable raw materials doing what a leaf has been doing for 450 million years. And unlike a lot of eco finishes that fade after a few washes, ecorepel®BIO keeps working after heavy use and repeated washing.
Every fibre is wrapped in a durable water-repellent finish that works like the waxy skin of a leaf.

A crepe-like surface engineered for heat

Look closely at the material and you’ll see it isn’t smooth. The yarn has an irregular, crepe-like texture created by deliberate thick-thin variations. That crinkled micro-surface creates tiny air gaps that allow heat and moisture to escape in humid conditions.

Classic five-panel construction

The cap has a classic five-panel construction with the front and side panels cut from two layers for added structure without added weight. All edges are turned and stitched, and all internal seams are taped for a clean finish and increased weather resistance. The eyelets, cord stopper and cord bead are rubberised matte black metal, so there’s nothing shiny and nothing that rattles. At the back, a bungee cord adjuster locks with a single pull while an internal sweatband keeps moisture off your forehead. Even the logo and care label are heat-transferred directly onto the fabric, so there’s no annoying labels to tuck away.
The cap has two-way elasticity and is wrinkle resistant so no sag and no creases.

A century-old design that never goes out of service

The five-panel cap has been around for over a century. It started as a working cap – cheap to produce, low-profile, secure in the wind – worn by courier boys, dock workers and delivery men in the early 1900s. By mid-century it was standard kit for hikers and scouts. By the 1980s it had migrated to the streets of New York, adopted by skate and hip-hop cultures for the same reason outdoor brands liked it: the shallow crown, the clean front panel, the fact that it never gets in the way. It’s structurally minimal but does exactly what it needs to do.
