Sub Zero Sweater
Built from superfine alpaca and lambswool for sub zero temperatures.
- Made with superfine alpaca and lambswool
- Made with zero dyes
- Ribbed cuffs and hem and a mock neck for warmth
Our Sub Zero range started with a simple idea – could you build a cardigan that could outperform a puffer jacket in a cryochamber? The short answer was yes. So now we’ve built the Sub Zero Sweaters the same way. Engineered from two incredibly powerful natural insulators – lambswool and superfine alpaca wool – the sweater is designed to help keep you warm even in sub zero temperatures.
Alpaca wool is one of the most extraordinary natural materials on the planet. It’s as soft as cashmere, warmer than sheep’s wool, and contains no lanolin so it’s hypoallergenic. Native to the Andean plateau of South America, alpacas have evolved over millennia to survive the harsh conditions of the mountains where altitudes vary between 3,500 and 5,000 metres, and intensely hot days are followed by sub zero nights.
We then blend it with organic lambswool for stretch and durability, and spin our yarn in Sesia, a carbon neutral mill in the foothills of the Italian Alps. The sweater is also left undyed. So the colours you see are the colours of the sheep and alpacas’ natural fleeces.
Technical Details
Our Sub Zero range started life in a cryochamber where you normally test arctic vehicles and missile components.

ALPACA WOOL IS ONE OF NATURE’S SUPERMATERIALS
Alpaca wool is one of the most extraordinary natural materials on the planet. It’s as soft as cashmere, warmer than sheep’s wool, and contains no lanolin so it’s hypoallergenic. Native to the Andean plateau of South America, alpacas have evolved over millennia to survive the harsh conditions of the mountains where altitudes vary between 3,500 and 5,000 metres, and intensely hot days are followed by sub zero nights. Their fleeces have become a livelihood for native Andean communities, providing them with a constant source of warm clothing and income.
The sweater is undyed. So the colours you see are the colours of the alpaca and the sheep’s natural fleeces.
The sweater is engineered to help keep you warm even in sub zero temperatures.
WE’VE ENGINEERED THE KNIT TO BE EVEN WARMER
The Sub Zero Sweater is built with a dense half Milano knit, which gives it structure, stability and makes it even warmer. It’s built with something called a ‘double-bed construction’ which means it traps air for insulation, resists sagging under the sweater’s weight, and keeps the cuffs, hem and neckline sitting cleanly against the body over time. Raglan sleeves also spread the sweater’s weight smoothly from its collar to the cuff, making it easy to wear under your coat… if you need one.
