Sashiko Chore Jacket
Reinforced with 1 million high-strength stitches, using the ancient Japanese art of sashiko.
- Made with Japanese indigo-dyed material
- Entire jacket reinforced with 5.5km of meta-aramid thread
- Garment-washed for a faded look
Reinforced with 1 million high-strength stitches, the Sashiko Chore Jacket pioneers a completely new approach to creating highly durable clothing, inspired by the ancient Japanese art of sashiko. The technique of sashiko, or ‘little stabs,’ is a highly resilient form of embroidery developed during the Japanese Edo period, where worn out garments were repaired using decorative hand stitches. Clothes would be mended again and again as they passed down the generations, getting stronger as they got older.
Rather than waiting until an item of clothing needs to be repaired, we’ve simply applied sashiko-style stitching in super-strong meta-aramid thread over the entire jacket at the start of its life. With a design based on early workwear jackets, it combines heavy-duty Japanese indigo cotton with 5.5 kilometres of high-strength stitching for comfort and durability.

Technical Details
The Future Suit transforms Merino into a smooth, minimalist, high tech material.
How we make the suit windproof and water resistant
The Future Suit is built with Merino wool engineered using Optim™ spinning technology. The fibres are pre-stretched, spun into yarn and woven into fabric, before a wet-finishing process is applied that makes the fibres contract and the weave structure tighten. The result is a super-dense and tightly woven fabric that’s 5x more wind resistant than normal, and can last half an hour in the rain before it even gets damp.

The Future Suit that is designed to take you from a plane to a boardroom, to a lunch, to a mountain.
You can tighten the cuffs at speed
You’ll find hidden drawcords at the ankles which can pull the cuffs tight. It’s the same high spec rubber cord lock we use on our jackets. To use it, just place two fingers on either side, pinch and pull towards you to cinch the fabric around the ankles or pull away from you to loosen the cord.
The Future Suit is an ultramodern, high performance travel suit.
The pants are antibacterial
It’s not sweat that smells, or even the clothes themselves, it’s the build-up of bacteria on the surface of the clothes. Merino is naturally odour resistant – odour molecules are absorbed and locked into the centre of the fibre of the Merino so you simply can’t smell them. They’re then released when you wash the pants.
