Planet Earth Sweater
A seamless, 3D knitted, crease resistant sweater built for travelling the world.
- 3D knitted with zero seams
- Built with thermoregulating Merino
- Cashmere adds extreme softness
Made from superfine Merino wool that’s evolved to survive scorching summers and freezing winters, it’s thermoregulating, breathable, elastic, and naturally water repellent. We add cashmere grown on the grasslands of the Mongolian-Manchurian steppe for softness, and then 3D knit the entire sweater – which is like 3D printing for clothing – to create a completely seamless sweater.
A 3D knitted sweater built with zero seams
The Planet Earth Sweater is a seamless 3D knitted sweater made from a single thread of ultrasoft cashmere and high-performance Merino. Incredibly soft, fine, lightweight, and built with zero seams, it’s made for travelling anywhere.
Every sweater is 3D knitted from a single thread of ultrasoft cashmere and high-performance Merino.
What the sweater feels like
The sweater is incredibly smooth and soft against your skin, so won’t scratch you or itch like wool sweaters can. The softness and seamless construction mean you can wear it on its own if you’re looking to go fast and light. Or it works great as a layering piece during colder months. Merino and cashmere are also naturally elastic so it never creates any resistance like heavier clothing can.
How Merino keeps you cool in the heat
Merino stops you overheating in higher temperatures as it simply releases its warmth if you’re getting too hot. Merino wool has to keep sheep cool even when the temperature goes over 30°C, so the Merino fibre naturally absorbs the moisture from sweat and disperses it to start releasing heat.
Merino keeps you warm in the cold too
Staying warm is all about trapping as many pockets of air next to your body as possible and that’s what Merino is built for. Every Merino fibre is hollow which means you have millions of air pockets trapped next to your skin. And as the natural curl of wool fibres traps more air than straight fibres, the microscopic texture of the fabric itself will also retain heat.
A harsh climate makes cashmere incredibly soft
We get our cashmere from the fleeces of Hircus Laniger goats that graze on the vast grasslands of the Mongolian-Manchurian steppe. Stretching over 800,000 square kilometres, they experience some of the harshest winters on Earth – where temperatures can be -50°C for consecutive days, and recurring natural disasters like ‘the dzud’ even have their own name. While people developed yurts to survive, the goats developed an incredibly thick fleece. Today every cashmere goat has a thick and rugged outer layer that protects a warm and ultra soft undercoat. And it’s this undercoat which produces the cashmere fibres that we use to create this sweater.
Zero seams means zero waste
3D knitting is a more efficient process than conventional knitting because you only have to feed a single strand of thread into the machine to produce a fully finished sweater. It means each sweater uses the exact amount of thread it needs, and no excess is left behind.
