Weighing just 79 grams, the cap is part of a system of ultralight, highly technical all-weather clothing designed to take you across every climate, environment and terrain on the surface of Earth. There’s an elasticated adjuster at the back of the cap that tightens with a bungee cord and lock for speed and simplicity. The outer material is woven with 5% elastane so the cap fits snugly around your head. We’ve taped the seams internally to increase its water repellence and wind resistance. And you can shape the brim just like a baseball cap.

The inside of the cap is lined with a layer of ultrasoft fleece that balances thermal insulation with high breathability. Made from a biodegradable nylon designed to combat the problem caused by microplastics shedding into the environment, the fleece traps warm air pockets around your head when the temperature drops, but still allows sweat to escape so you don’t overheat.

The outside of the cap repels rain and dirt with engineered fibres that mimic the self-cleaning effect produced by plant leaves. Where plants use a thin waxy layer called a cuticle, the outside surface of the cap comes with microscopic chains wrapped around each individual fibre. These helix structure chains spiral round the fibres to reduce surface tension, forcing water and mud to simply roll off the surface of the cap. The technology works without using any toxic fluorocarbons while keeping you and the cap dry and clean at the same time.

The cap comes with adjustable ear flaps for the heat and cold. When the temperature drops, there are two fleece-lined storm flaps to cover your ears – they also join together at the back to protect your neck. When the temperature goes up, the flaps can be folded up and out of the way against the side of the cap, and they secure in place with two minimalist and lightweight snap fasteners.
