Race to Zero is an ultralight packable system built for running 5km or 5 days straight. Each piece is built with advanced materials, packs down into itself, and fits into the palm of your hand. At just 85 grams the Race to Zero Jacket is the lightest of all four pieces in the system.

It’s water repellent and wind resistant, and comes with 27 laser cut vents and deep storage pockets, making it the ultimate utility layer to take with you on any adventure.

What is the race to zero?

There are some very simple rules of running. Rule one: lighter is nearly always better. Your gear should feel weightless. So our Race to Zero gear is the lightest running system in the world. The mission is to get as close to zero as we can on the weighing scales, so once you put it on you forget it’s there.

Every piece packs into itself

Every piece in the system packs down into itself in exactly the same way. At the bottom of the jacket you’ll find a black, zero-shaped pocket. It’s the same black, zero-shaped pocket you’ll find on the shorts and the t shirt as well. To pack the puffer up you turn the pocket inside out and push the puffer into it until you’re left with a pouch that fits into the palm of your hand. Once it’s packed down you can stuff it into your race bag, or clip it on using the elastic hanging loop.

Ultra-lightweight at just 85 grams

The temperature can drop fast when you’re running at night, or at altitude. So you need extra layers that can heat you back up quickly. The trade-off is normally the space and weight they take up in your bag. That’s why the Race to Zero Jacket packs up into a small ball that fits in the palm of your hand, and weighs just 85 grams – under half the weight of an iPhone. Whether it’s on your back or in your backpack you’ll never notice it’s there.

Protects you from the elements

The jacket is built to act as a windbreaker or emergency layer if the wind and rain kick in and the temperatures start to drop. So it’s designed to heat you up quickly when you’re cold. Despite being ultralight, the material is engineered to keep heat in and wind out when you’re moving. The outside of the jacket is also treated with a water repellent coating so light rain simply rolls off its surface, keeping you drier for longer. Once you start sweating again, you can roll it up into a ball and hold it until you need it again.

27 laser cut vents

We’ve laser cut small circular vents into the areas where you sweat most to provide extra airflow when you’re working your hardest. You’ll find two vents under each armpit, three down your spine and ten on each forearm.

Two deep side pockets

You’ll find two large storage pockets on the back of the jacket for gels, water bottles, or maps. The pockets are 20 centimetres deep and are made from a stretchy mesh that expands the more you put inside them.

Breathable, stretchy cuffs

Even the cuffs have had weight engineered out of them. Each cuff is constructed with tiny perforations which allow excess heat to escape and prevent sweat from building up. The cuffs are also stretchy and grippy to create a seal around your wrists to stop cold air getting in.
